The signing ceremony took place today June 24th, 2016 in the office of the Executive Bureau of International Economic Cooperation Ministry of Commerce, Beijing, China

The cost of the development will be KES 2 billion. The buildings will consist of teaching theatres, Office facilities, dormitory and other public function areas. It will cater for at least 2000 students. The construction of the buildings is scheduled to commence before March, 2017 and will take not more than 18 months to completion.

The agreement is as a result of Exchange Notes between the government of the Republic of Kenya and the People’s Republic of China dated July 22, 2015, stipulating the Chinese government undertaking the project.

Those who accompanied the Vice Chancellor to China during the signing ceremony include Prof. Isaac Meroka Mbeche, Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration &Finance), Prof. Guo Hong, Director, Confucius Institue, Mr. Tracisio Thuita, Estate Manager, Arch. Jarrett Onyango Odwallo, Manager, Construction & Maintenance and Resident Architect, CS. Fredrick Collins Omondi, Senior Legal Officer on the Kenyan side, and the Executive Bureau of International Economic Cooperation Ministry of Commerce, the People’s Republic of China.
