MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE ESTATES DEPARTMENT IN 2018/2019 FINANCIAL YEAR
The department:
Raised 151,666,603 Million as appropriation in aid from residential houses, Mombasa Uni Plaza, billboards and leased premises.
Ensured that the Estates Service Charter was translated into Braille
Ensured that all equipment had service contracts, which the service providers adhered to by servicing of equipment (lifts, generators, borehole pumps, air conditioners, fire-fighting equipment, cold rooms and freezer systems) as per service contracts and maintenance schedules
Outsourced cleaning & ground maintenance and garbage collection and disposal services to ensure a clean working environment
Ensured all statutory charges including land rates and land rents were paid on time to avoid penalties
Ensured utility bills, water and electricity, were paid promptly to avoid disruptions
Processed 1 No. title document for university parcel of land and renewed 1 No. lease for university parcel of land on leasehold title
Involved two youths from the School of Build Environment in internship programme of the department
Achieved 99% occupancy of habitable university residential houses
Ensured that Estates Management Information System was integrated with SAGE to facilitate invoicing of tenants
Audited office space at the department to ensure compliance with CUE standards
