UoN commemorates the World Day of Remembrance of Road Crash Victims

The University of Nairobi in collaboration with the National Transport and Safety Authority, NTSA and other stakeholders commemorated the World Day of Remembrance for road traffic victims on the 17th of November 2021. This day is observed globally every year on the third Sunday of November and is dedicated to remembering crash victims and injuries on road effect on their families. 

The occasion at the UoN was garced by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama and the entire committee on Road Safety Mainstreaming. Speaking at the UoN World Day of Remembrance of Road Crash Victims, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Nairobi, Prof. Stephen Kiama acknowledged that the university community was not exempt when it came to being affected by road crashes and thus it was important to commemorate WDoR and lead in actions that would minimize road crashes. 

The VC also joined the Road Safety Mainstreaming Committee led by Prof. Ayub Gitau in observing a minute of silence in honor of the fallen road accident victims and thereafter proceeded to plant trees.
