UoN commemorates the World Day of Remembrance of Road Crash Victims

The University of Nairobi in collaboration with the National Transport and Safety Authority, NTSA and other stakeholders commemorated the World Day of Remembrance for road traffic victims on the 17th of November 2021. This day is observed globally every year on the third Sunday of November and is dedicated to remembering crash victims and injuries on road effect on their families.  The occasion at the UoN was garced by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama and the entire committee on Road Safety Mainstreaming. Speaking at the UoN World Day of Remembrance of Road Crash Victims, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Nairobi, Prof. Stephen Kiama acknowledged that the university community was not exempt when it came to being affected by road crashes and thus it was important to commemorate WDoR and lead in actions that would minimize road crashes.

Hokkaido University President’s Fellowship - call for application

Hokkaido University President’s Fellowship for 2022. Hokkaido University offers this fellowship to our inter-university partners with whom we seek to develop stronger ties, and I hope that we will accept a candidate from your university. Self-supported international students with excellent academic records as well as a strong interest in Hokkaido University and in Japanese culture are eligible to apply. Please recommend one student from your university that can start at HU in October 2022. Applications must be sent by January 7th, 2022 without fail. Please submit the scanned data if you cannot send them by post because of the effect of the new coronavirus. Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Course - Invitation for registration

The University of Nairobi in collaboration with the University of Helsinki (Finland) and Reaktor (Finland) welcomes all staff and students to register for the elements of Artificial Intelligence (AI) online course. This is a free course and covers fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and at the end, there will be a certificate of proficiency from the three collaborating partners. You do not need any prior knowledge or experience in computing. At the end of the course, you will have a good understanding of what kind of problems AI is used to solve in everyday life and how you can apply AI in your career. You will have a competitive advantage as you will have an extra set of tools to solve business and societal problems that require automation. UoN Alumni Association Scholarship - call for applications

The University of Nairobi Alumni Association (UONAA) invites applications for scholarships for the Academic Year 2021/2022 that started in September 2021. The UONAA Scholarship Fund is a program that provides university scholarships and mentorship to academically gifted and talented students but from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. The students must be pursuing their studies at the University of Nairobi. The UONAA Scholarship Fund targets to financially support 1000 needy and deserving students over the next 5 years giving up to Ksh. 40,000.00 per academic year. Call for Applications: Africa Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Operations for Resource Management & Food Supply

Covid-19 Vaccination Exercise - Moderna Vaccine

The Director, University Health Services Dr. Lucy Muhia has announced that the University Vaccine Centre will be rolling out the 1st dose of the modern vaccine (mRNA) starting Monday 06-Sept-2021. In her memo to all staff, she said the moderna vaccine will only be administered to eligible persons who had not received any other type of COVID-19 vaccination. The second dose of the moderna vaccine will be administered 28 days apart. The director encouraged all staff who had not been vaccinated to avail themselves of this opportunity by reserving a slot via Vaccination Portal: vaccination.uonbi.ac.ke. The prior booking will enable the UHS plan in advance for ease of queue management.
